Enter CAPTAIN SOMETHING!
WAY back in the day during my college years, I did a little strip for University of Alabama newspaper, The Crimson White, called “The Continuing Adventures of Captain Sorensen!” It was about the at the time University President, Andrew Sorensen, and his superhero alternate identity. He would tackle all the issues of campus such as parking tickets, racism, and even squirrels.
It was mostly a cut and paste strip so I didn’t have to spend so much time doing that drawing crap, but occasionally something would be rendered by my hand, pencil, and ink.
Years later I found myself wanting to revisit the concept without actually using the real life U of A president. I wrestled with it for awhile, unable to find a name that fit with “Captain” quite as well as “Sorensen.” And sadly, I never came up with anything.
That is, until recently.
I won’t claim it fits JUST as well, but it’s close enough. Also, inspiration hit and I ran with it.
I’ll post them here sporadically, along with the other style strips. So this isn’t replacing what I’ve been doing for just over a week, just taking a ride along with it.
